How to convert a PDF to Word

  1. 1Add your PDF file (up to 25 MB and 150 pages): this is one of the few tools on the site that uses our server, and a banner says so transparently.
  2. 2Click “Convert and download”: the file is sent over HTTPS, processed in memory only, converted to .docx, returned to you, then deleted immediately.
  3. 3Open the resulting Word document in Microsoft Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs: the text is rebuilt into fully editable paragraphs and headings.

Frequently asked questions

Is my file kept on the server?

No. The PDF is sent over HTTPS, processed in RAM only for the duration of the conversion, then deleted immediately: it is never written to disk, never kept, never logged. This is the only kind of tool on the site that uses a server, and a banner states it clearly.

Will the layout be identical?

The text is faithfully rebuilt into editable paragraphs and headings in the .docx file. Complex layout (multiple columns, positioned images, exact fonts) may differ slightly, because the goal is a document you can genuinely edit in Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs.

What are the file limits?

PDFs up to 25 MB and 150 pages are accepted. Scanned (image-only) PDFs must first go through the OCR tool to extract their text, and password-protected PDFs must be unlocked with the Unlock tool before converting.

Why isn't this tool 100% offline like the others?

Faithful Word conversion requires a full layout engine, far too heavy to run inside a browser. It is the only kind of tool on the site that sends your file: we say so plainly, processing happens in memory, and deletion is immediate.
